It looks as though some of the trade unions are doing better in this economy than the employers whose employees they represent J. A Twin Cities pipefitters union, Local 455, recently purchased a local golf course for over 4 million dollars and intends to keep operating it as such!
We wonder if the union will delegate tee times by seniority; allow bumping rights on the greens; provide for a progressive policy on "Mulligans" and a grievance and arbitration system to resolve disputed drops and putt counts. No doubt games will be played with guaranteed call-in pay and double time after 8... holes J.
We might also wonder whether the Pipefitter's Union will offer the typical union perks to its grounds crew and other staff now that it presumably will assume the role of employer at the golf course.
